Our Story
Trusted Experts in Māori Language and Education for over 25 Years
Since 1999, Haemata has played a key role in supporting the revitalisation of te reo Māori and the advancement of kaupapa Māori education across Aotearoa.
Founded by Hineihaea Murphy and Mark Fell, our organisation is deeply rooted in Te Ao Māori and driven by the belief that language is a living expression of identity, connection, and possibility.

Strong-growing
Our name, Haemata, means "strong-growing". This speaks to our purpose: to strengthen and grow the presence of te reo Māori in all spaces, and uplift the people and organisations working towards that goal.
